Linstrom Pro Painters transformed St. Anthony Parish, a historic Catholic church in Kansas City, Missouri, with a full interior repaint centered on an expansive ceiling renewal. Our artisans designed and executed a 150-foot by 50-foot cross motif on the nave ceiling, integrating rich liturgical colors that complement the parish’s stained glass and architectural details.
The project included fabricating a custom star field with approximately 120-130 shimmering stars to evoke the night sky above the sanctuary. Every surface—walls, arches, soffits, and trim—received meticulous prep, priming, and finish coats that brighten the worship space while preserving its sacred character for the parish community and visitors on the Sacred Structures tour.
We erected protective scaffolding and enclosed the nave to shield pews, altars, and relics before beginning detailed surface preparation. Plaster cracks were stabilized, existing coatings were deglossed for adhesion, and custom templates guided the layout of the cross and starry sky. A combination of precision brushing, glazing, and airless spraying ensured seamless transitions between artwork and field colors.
The renewed sanctuary ceiling now showcases the illuminated cruciform centerpiece and celestial accents that draw visitors’ eyes upward. Parish leadership noted how the refreshed finishes and night-sky mural elevate liturgies and invite the community—as well as guests on Kansas City’s Sacred Structures tour—to experience the church’s heritage anew.
